Moyes believes he is right man to succeed Fergie as Man U manager

New Manchester United manager David Moyes has come out fighting insisted that he is the right man for the job at the club and that the worst season start in almost 25 years is not as bad as it looks.

According to the Mirror, former manager Akex Ferguson publicly backed Moyes this week and the new United boss claims that his fellow Scot and the rest of the Old Trafford hierarchy still have total faith in him.

Moyes said that he thought it is a good club and he was sure that they had picked the right man for the job, adding that Sir Alex was part of the process as well.

Despite United suffering three defeats in their first six league games, Moyes insists they are not as bad as the critics maintain as he prepares for Saturday's trip to bottom club Sunderland, the report said.

He said that he did not think it was a case of pulling it around and it was just them getting back on track and finding a bit of form, adding that it was not as bad as many people had made it out to be.

He added that obviously the club's league position was not where they would want to be, but he asked the fans to wait and see where it ends up come the end of the season.

However, Moyes also warned United fans that the January transfer window may not solve their problems, the report added.

United have promised to bankroll the Scot in January as he goes after the players he feels he needs to strengthen the champions' squad, the report further said.
