MTV is set to honour Eminem with the Global Icon Award at the EMAs in Amsterdam.
The 'I Need a Doctor' hitmaker would join a list of previous winners including Bon Jovi, Queen and Whitney Houston, the BBC reported.
Bruce Gilmer from MTV said that a lot of thought goes into who could possibly be appropriate.
Eminem has sold over 80 million records.
Gilmer said that everyone would agree to the fact that the rapper is one of the most creative and unique artists of our time.
