Release of the film 'Ram Janmabhoomi' was restrained by the Bombay High Court on Thursday citing that the makers have not obtained certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

The Court has also asked YouTube to pull down the trailer of the film until it is certified by the CBFC.

The directions were issued after a Pune based activist Azhar Tamboli filed a petition, through advocates Hasnain and Raeed Kazi, stating that if the film was released, it would disrupt communal harmony in the country. The petition was filed on the basis of the film's trailer.

"The issue is that the dialogues and visuals used in the film don't fulfill the guidelines listed in the cinematograph act of 1952," said Hasnani Kazi. The lawyer also added that CBFC, in a statement, has clarified that till date they have not received any certification application from the makers of the film.

Earlier on November 20, members of a Mumbai-based Islamic organisation, Raza Academy had filed a police complaint alleging that the trailer of the movie hurts the religious sentiments of Sunni Muslims.

The complaint was lodged two days after producer Wasim Rizvi announced the release date of the trailer of the movie, which is based on that represents the timeline of what all has happened in Ayodhya since Babri Masjid demolition in 1992. Rizvi is the chairman of Uttar Pradesh Shia Waqf Board.

Rizvi has been a vocal advocate of Ram Temple construction in Ayodhya.
