The first day of the Mumbai Metro will become a bittersweet memory for both the Maharashtra Government and the citizens of the maximum city as the services ran into a technical problem.
According to media reports, the metro train flagged off by Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan was stalled for about 30 minutes at the Jagriti Nagar station due to a technical problem.
Earlier today, Chavan inaugurated the Metro services from the Versova station. He was accompanied by Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG) chairman Anil Ambani.
The Metro will link Andheri station on the Western Railway line to Ghatkopar on Central Railway line.
The much awaited metro service comes four months after the city got the country's first monorail between suburban Chembur and Wadala on February 1 earlier this year.
