Wimbledon champion Andy Murray has dismissed the idea of pushing the Australian Open to February to avoid the searing summer heat that left his older brother with heat stroke.

The extreme heat policy was finally invoked on Thursday, the third consecutive day with temperatures above 40 degrees, with Jamie Murray requiring two hours of medical supervision after victory in the men's doubles with Australian partner John Peers.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, however, the Scot does not want the dates of the Australian Open tournament to be changed to February, when it is usually slightly cooler in Melbourne, saying that it is the first time that the tournament has suffered from the heat wave.

Murray further said that he does not mind the current scheduling as it rewards the players, adding that one can see who have put the work in the off-season.
