Former military strongman General (retired) Pervez Musharraf has urged his supporters to make his party, the All Pakistan Muslim League (APML), more active at all levels, hinting at a "major political development" in the country in the coming days.
While addressing a hurriedly convened meeting of his party's central executive committee (CEC) in Karachi on Sunday, Musharraf said that they will soon organise the APML "at all levels." He added that "likeminded politicians" will also be invited to join hands with the party in order to fill the gap in the future, reported The Express Tribune.
He also assured his party members that his "good days are around the corner" and added that he will soon play an "effective role" in national politics as a liberal political entity.
A senior leader of the APML said that the hurriedly convened meeting was organized to "discuss the future scenario and show (the party's) political muscle." He said that the former ruler seemed "very optimistic" after a long time and added that he believed Musharraf had been assured by some quarters that he will have a good role in the country.
The political party is expected to start its political activities from local government elections as well as from Gilgit-Baltistan general elections, he added.
