Prashant Pandey, a whistleblower in the Vyapam scam, on Sunday alleged that the Madhya Pradesh Police had illegally detaining his wife for no reason.

"They have detained her (Prashant's wife) without even letting her talk to her family and husband (Prashant)," Pandey told ANI here.

He further claimed that the higher authorities had assured him and his family of security.

"Two additional SPs (MP Police) detained my wife without any reason, even when the Supreme Court, Delhi High Court, Madhya Pradesh High Court assured me and my family of security...,"he added.

According to reports, Pandey's wife was released after being questioned for a few hours and the police seizing Rs. 9.96 lakh from her

Pandey, a forensic expert, claims to have evidence of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and his family's involvement in the Vyapam scam.

Pandey, who was arrested by the police in August last year and booked under the IT Act and forgery, was released on bail a few days later.

The Supreme Court had on Friday asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to submit the entire schedule of investigation in cases related to the Vyapam scam by July 31.

The CBI had constituted a special team of 40 officers, headed by a Joint Director-level officer, to probe the scam.

The Supreme Court had earlier transferred all cases relating to the Vyapam scam to the CBI.
