North Korea's execution of leader Kim Jong Un's uncle and one of the most powerful officials is not going to alter the economic goals of the country, an official said.
A senior member of the state economic development committee, Yun Yong Sok, clarified that North Korea's trade goals were unaffected, the BBC reports.
Kim's uncle Chang Song-thaek had been building trade with China before he was purged in view of trying to overthrow the government.
Meanwhile, North Korea had recalled a business team from China following Chang's execution last week.
These series of events led to further speculations that foreign investment, which is crucial for the nation's fragile economy, might end and even raised the fears of instability of the nuclear-armed state.
However, Kim's aunt Chang's wife, Kim Kyong-hui, was named on a state committee, which signaled that she remains safe within the ruling dynasty, even after her husband has been purged and executed.
