Nadal, Djokovic, Sharapova sail into second round of 'rain-interrupted' French Open

World top two players, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic have sailed into the second round of the French Open following their respective first-round victories at a rain-interrupted Roland Garros on Monday.

The Spanish star beat American wildcard entry Robby Ginepri 6-0 6-3 6-0 in 102 minutes, while the Serb, who has never won the title at Roland Garros, beat his Portuguese opponent Joao Sousa in just under two hours.

According to the BBC, Djokovic has set up a round two meeting with France's Jeremy Chardy, who has defeated Spaniard Daniel Gimeno Traver 7-5, 6-2, 6-2.

Meanwhile, the report mentioned that 2012 women's champion Maria Sharapova demolished fellow Russian Ksenia Pervak 6-1, 6-2 while Tommy Robredo defeated Britain's James Ward 4-6, 6-4, 6-2, 6-4.
