Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi offered a chadar on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the dargah of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinduddin Chisti in Ajmer on Wednesday.
The 803rd Urs (annual festival) of the revered Sufi saint began on Monday.
Naqvi read out a message from the Prime Minister after offering the chadar.
According to an official release yesterday, the Prime Minister greeted the people on the occasion of the annual Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti.
He said India has been a land of sages, saints and prophets for thousands of years.
Recalling Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti's message of amity to his followers, Modi said it continued to be relevant.
Former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and Congress president Sonia Gandhi have also sent chadars to be offered at the dargah of Chisti.
