Supporters of Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) protested outside the ministry of water resources here today over the decision of Narmada Control Authority (NCA) to raise the height of Narmada dam by 17 meters.
Criticizing PM Modi for the decision NBA's supporter, Madhuresh Kumar called it political and unjust for the people residing near the dam.
"Modi's decision is political and unjust for the people residing near the dam. He has taken the decision without going through the ground report. The zero evacuation report is only on paper whereas the people residing near the dam don't have a residence." said Kumar.
"We are ready to accept the decision provided Narendra Modi arranges for residence to these people," he added.
According to the NBA, there are about 250,000 people residing in the Sardar Sarovar Project (SSP) submergence area in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.
