The Nationalist Congress Party on Tuesday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to fulfil the promises made by the Bharatiya Janata Party prior to the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, adding that the government was in danger of losing the confidence of the people.
"We were promised development, we were promised freedom from poverty, corruption and terrorism but then we have left that agenda altogether and have seemed to diverged ourselves towards issues like 'ghar wapsi' and language," NCP leader Majeed Memon told ANI.
"The government is losing track and thus is losing the confidence of the people with the passage of time. Let Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his people go back to the promises that had been made and take the country to the path of growth rather than division, hatred and suspicion," he added.
Opposition parties have criticised Prime Minister Modi's silence over the 'ghar wapsi' issue and have urged him to make a statement on the conversion issue.
