Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLAs on Monday walked out of the Maharashtra State Assembly in protest of an attack on a church in Navi Mumbai.
Earlier, there was an uproar in the Assembly over the issue during which the opposition targeted the government by saying that the minorities in the state are living in fear.
On Saturday, three unidentified men hurled stones inside a church compound in New Panvel of Navi Mumbai. The attackers also damaged the glass enclosure of the statue of Saint George.
CCTV footage of the incident showed the attackers speeding away on motorcycles after the incident.
As per reports, a case has been registered at the Khandeshwar Police Station and investigations are on into the matter. However, no one has been arrested so far.
