Over a month after a massive 7.8 magnitude earthquake unleashed destruction in Nepal, tourism operators have said that they are seeking advice from international experts on which areas can be declared safe for trekking and mountaineering.

According to media reports, the authorities have sought help from top geologists because of the increased risks posed by the earthquake-torn mountains.

The news came as landslides and aftershocks continue to strike many destinations in Nepal in the aftermath of the devastating quake that left mountains unstable.

Tourism forms a major source of income for Nepal and directly contributed 4.3 percent to the nation's total GDP in 2014.
