Nepal President Bidya Devi Bhandari, on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers, has awarded 56,649 persons on the occasion of the nation's ninth Republic Day, today.
According to a statement issued by the President's Office today, 370 persons were awarded with Manapadabis, Alankars and Padaks of various degrees, reports The Himalayan Times.
Similarly, 56,270 persons were awarded with the Natural Disaster Rescue Medal.
Likewise, 25,122 persons were honoured with appreciation letters for helping to make the 18th SAARC Summit successful.
The Summit was held on November 2014 in Kathmandu.
Meanwhile, 887 jailbirds were exempted from their remaining term on the occasion of the ninth Republic Day, read another statement from the President's Office.
