Nepal quake: Third IAF aircraft with 152 Indians arrives in Delhi

Third Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft arrived on Sunday in New Delhi with 152 Indians, who were stranded in earthquake-hit Nepal.

IAF's IL-76 aircraft landed at the Palam airport in the wee hours on Sunday.

Spokesperson of the Ministry of Defence, Sitanshu Kar shared the information via the twitter.

"#NepalEarthquake One IL-76 brought back 152 passengers on board from Kathmandu to Palam," he tweeted.

Earlier in the day, IAF's C-17 Globemaster III with 102 Indians and a C-130J carrying 55 stranded Indians, including four infants, landed at the Palam airport.

The Indians who were stranded in Nepal applauded the Government of India for their effort.

"It was very massive. We contacted the embassy and they helped us get back here," said an Indian stranded in Nepal.

"Very big thanks to Government of India," said another Indian stranded in Nepal.

The Indian Government had sent four aircrafts with NDRF teams to oversee rescue and relief operations and also set up a 24-hour control room for queries regarding the tragedy.

Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar said that Prime Minister Modi had indicated to President Ram Baran of Nepal and Prime Minister Sushil Koirala that India will do everything within its capabilities to be of help to the nation at this difficult moment.

"We have set up a helpline in the ministry; the numbers have been put out. We would also request that if there are people who know that their relatives are in Nepal to send us their details. So, there is an e-mail address which is controlroom@mea.gov.in. If anybody who would like to keep us informed about their relatives and give us their contact numbers that would be very helpful for us," he added.

The death toll in Nepal from the powerful earthquake has reportedly risen to 1100.
