The newly-appointed Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief, Lt. Gen. Naveed Mukhtar, on Friday called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif reportedly to discuss policy guidelines and matters of internal security.
However, the meeting seemed more of an informal nature as Lt. Gen. Mukhtar was seen in civil dress rather than in uniform.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister appreciated the role the ISI has played in the anti-terrorism war, reports the Dawn.
Lt. Gen. Mukhtar replaced Lt. Gen. Rizwan Akhtar as head of ISI earlier in December.
Earlier, Lt. Gen. Mukhtar had been serving as Corps Commander of Karachi.
Prior to his stint in Karachi, he served in the ISI as head of its counter-terrorism wing.
