Former union minister G K Vasan on Wednesday said his new political party has received a positive response from all sections of society, and added that the outfit will reach the best height possible.
Earlier this month, Vasan had resigned from the Congress.
"I am happy that the party is being encouraged by all sections of society and I am sure the November 28 meeting will be a grand success for achieving the vision of the late K Kamaraj in Tamil Nadu," Vasan told the media.
"I have started strengthening my new party and within a short time, I am sure we will try to reach the best height possible," he added.
When questioned on the issue of the Tamil fishermen captured in Sri Lanka, who have been awarded the death sentence by the Colombo High Court, Vasan said that the Centre should take a stronger hand in securing their release.
"The fishermen have been wrongly charged. They have to fully pardoned and released. The part that the Central government plays has to be very positive," he said.
After an association of 14 years with the Congress, Vasan decided to break away and form a new party, stating his dissatisfaction with decisions taken on important issues.
He squarely blamed the Congress leadership in New Delhi for the same.
