Following a strong rally, the market was supported majorly by banks and auto sectors.
Ending with marginal gains, the market saw the Sensex trailing up with 401.71 points at 25719.58. Nifty on the other hand gained 130.35 points gaining a level of 7818.60.
Top gainers included Hindalco, Vedanta, NTPC, Tata Steel and Tata Motors. Metals by the end of the day outperformed the benchmarks of the market.
Among the losers were Sun Pharma and GAIL from the pharma and oil and gas sector.
