WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, who has sought political asylum in the Eucadorian embassy has said that there has been no consular assistance from the Australian government as claimed by Senator Bob Carr.

Assange, in order to avoid extradition to Sweden to face questioning over the 2010 allegations about sexual offences said that he has not met any consulate or any Australian government official since 2010, reports News.com.au.

According to the report, as Carr denied 'washing hands off' Assange, the whistleblower said that the money on consular help is being spent on press release for foreign minister.

Assange fears that the extradition to Sweden may lead him to face Espionage charges in US after WikiLeaks published a large amount of US classified documents.

The report further added that Assange is planning to run for the Senate in Victoria at the September 14 federal election, with the WikiLeaks party aiming to field upper house candidates also in NSW and Western Australia.
