Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting M. Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday said there was no need to respond to the irresponsible comments of Congress leaders on the Indian Army's surgical strikes across the Line of Control (LoC).

"There is no need to respond such irresponsible comments and demands. Fortunately even the Congress party has realised its mistake and they have distanced themselves from the comments made by some of its leaders. The AAP also made it very clear. That being the case I don't think any Indian citizen doubts the credentials of the commitment of our Indian Army," Naidu said.

Commending the Indian Army, Naidu said that the entire world and the nation has acknowledged the surgical strikes, so where was the case of giving ant proof.

"Nobody is raising doubt, only Pakistan is saying something because they have to say something. Pakistan is like 'Thief keeping quite after being bitten by the Scorpion'. Raising doubts on it (surgical strike) will be like dishonouring the army," he added.

On Tuesday, Congress leader, Sanjay Nirupam also courted controversy calling by asking the Centre to give proof of the surgical strike that took place in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), while at the same time asserting that India not doing so, was allowing Pakistan to insult it globally.

However, minutes after his comments, the Congress distanced itself fromNirupam.

"Congress doesn't agree with the statements made by Sanjay Nirupam, we have taken a serious note of it. The Congress fully trusts the Indian Army," Congress leader Randeep Surjewala said.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Congress leader P.Chidambaram also drew flak from Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad for demanding proof of the surgical strike.
