Northeast artists mark their presence at Delhi's 'Bharat Parv' festival

New Delhi, Feb. 4 (ANI): A five-day long 'Bharat Parv', a festival of India's culture and diversity, was organized at Red Fort in Delhi where many talented artists from the northeast gave scintillating performances.

Artists from North East along with other parts of the country participated in the event.

During the festival, artists from Mizoram performed a colorful Bamboo Dance and mesmerized the audience.

A group of artists from Manipur also performed "Pung Chalom Dance" which is the soul of Manipuri Sankirtana music and Classical Manipuri dance.

"This is the first time that I came to see this cultural event. Different states, tribes have come to participate and here varieties of handicrafts, food items are available so, I got to see different cultures at one platform here in Delhi for the first time," said Vaibhav, a Local

"It is a good opportunity for us to exposure especially Mizoram. We are from the northeast and many people don't recognize Mizoram so, it is a good platform," said Margrette, Artist from Mizoram.

A cultural troupe from Tripura mesmerized the audience by presenting 'Hojagiri Dance', while artists from Sikkim performed 'Sorreti dance' that was widely appreciated.

"We are here to perform Sorreti dance, it's a dance about love story of King and Queen. We are feeling very great and proud to perform here," said Kavita Shetty, Artist from Sikkim

"We are representing Hojagiri Dance of Riyang tribe in Tripura. I feel very good to come here and get to see other's culture as well. I'm very happy and thankful for organizing this Bharat Parv festival by the government of India," said Madhvi Singh, Leader of dance group, Tripura

Later, models representing each state and different tribes walked down the ramp.

"It is very nice. All these dances are new to us so, it was very nice to watch them and getting impression of India Culture of dancing," said Chris, Visitor.

At the end of the program, artists from all the states, came together to perform a cultural dance showcasing a perfect example of unity in diversity.
