A Pakistani police officer killed a prisoner with an axe on Wednesday in the city of Gujarat alleging that he had committed blasphemy.
According to Dawn, Jhang Syed Tufail Haider was arrested a day before he was skilled, for wounding two people in Gujarat.
Police authorities said that the 45-year-old Tufail came to Madina Syedan in Gujarat three days ago to attend a majlis.
Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Faraz Naveed struck Tufail on the neck with an axe which resulted in his immediate death after a heated argument during interrogation.
Police have arrested ASI Faraz Naveed and taken the axe into custody and the body of the slain man has been sent for a postmortem to a local hospital.
