India's fastest digital payments platform Freecharge today announced its partnership with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), a leading state-owned oil company figuring in the Forbes 2000 and Fortune 500 list.
Customers can now pay for their fuel bills at the HPCL petrol pumps using the Freecharge wallet in less than 10 seconds by generating the OnTheGo Pin even in the absence of internet connectivity making the whole transaction process seamless and swifter.
The facility will be available at over 60 company owned petrol pumps spread across 10 states, namely, Maharashtra, Delhi, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh.
Over the next few months customers will be able to use the Freecharge Wallet at over 4500 petrol pumps across the country.
"We are witnessing a shift towards acceptance of digital payments by consumers and merchants. We want to further fuel this habit by creating new use cases for our wallet. Our partnership with HPCL will help us reach smaller towns like Surat, Rajkot, Mathura, Allahabad, Jamnagar etc. and get more consumers be part of the Digital Payments ecosystem," said CEO Freecharge, Govind Rajan.
"We are delighted to join hands with a brand like HPCL to offer customers a frictionless, secure and swifter way to pay with our wallet and together work towards creating a less cash economy," added Govind Rajan.
Fuel stations are looking for ways to reduce cash transactions. By embracing digital wallets, HPCL will be able to tap into today's smartphone generation and therein increase brand stickiness.
Freecharge has focused on building an intuitive user interface and the home-grown technology 'On-the-go-pin' which helps consumers to easily adopt digital payments for their day to day transactions.
Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited is a renowned Navratna Public Sector Undertaking, engaged in the oil exploration, refining and marketing with over 13800 Retail Outlets spread across the country.

Its outlets are equipped with state of the art fuelling facilities and the Freecharge Mobile Wallet adds one more arrow in its quiver of customer initiatives.
