US President Barack Obama has reportedly reiterated White House's statement that the country was 'disappointed' over Russia granting NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden a temporary asylum and said that it is reflective of Vladimir Putin's administration slipping back into 'Cold war mentality'.
According to Politico, Obama said that despite the lack of an extradition treaty with Russia, the two countries haven't had problems returning lawbreakers to each other and president Putin should have considered that in Snowden's case.
Obama did not express surprise over the recent difference among the two nations with regard to Snowden's issue adding that it's reflective of what's been going on with Russia lately.
He further confirmed that he would attend the G20 summit in Russia, despite the issues with the host country but did not comment upon the one-on-one meet with Putin, the report added.
