Obama reassures 'limited' and 'tailored' Syria attack 'won't be like Iraq'

President Barack Obama has reassured that any American response to the Syrian chemical weapons use would "not be a repeat of Iraq," tamping down fears of waging another war.

In an interview with PBS News Hour, Obama said that any such action against the use of weapons of mass destruction would be "limited" and "tailored" to ensure the U.S. does not get drawn into a long conflict, Politico reports.

Obama said that the approach he was taking would send a shot across the bow to say, 'Stop doing this,' to contain the Syrian civil war against the Assad regime.

The U.S. administration is considering a tough response to the use of chemical weapons by Syrian authorities on the outskirts of Damascus last week that allegedly killed hundreds of people.
