United States President Donald Trump on Tuesday blamed the democrats for increase in Obamacare premiums.

In a tweet, Trump said, "Any increase in ObamaCare premiums is the fault of the Democrats for giving us a 'product' that never had a chance of working."

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) or Obamacare, is a United States federal statute enacted by the 111th United States Congress and signed into law by President Barack Obama on March 23, 2010.

Last week, Trump cut off cost-sharing reduction (CSR) payments under Obamacare. The CSR payments are made by the federal government on a monthly basis to health insurance companies.

The Trump administration said it would stop paying Obamacare insurers billions of dollars in reimbursements for discounts that insurers must give by law to low-income customers of their Affordable Care Act (ACA) plans.

This is not the first time, Trump has criticised Obamacare. On Monday, Trump told reporters: "Obamacare is finished. It's dead. It's gone. You shouldn't even mention it. It's gone. There is no such thing as Obamacare any more."

Meanwhile, Senators reach bipartisan deal to salvage Obamacare subsidies that Trump eliminated last week.

According to The Guardian, Republican senator Lamar Alexander announced on Tuesday that he had reached a deal with Democrat Patty Murray to fund the federal payments - intended to help insurance companies cover the medical needs of low-income Americans - in exchange for allowing states more regulatory flexibility under the Affordable Care Act.

Trump wants to repeal Obamacare and introduced the American Health Care Act (AHCA), or nicknamed 'Trumpcare', which was passed by House on May 4 this year.
