'Good governance day' will help in character building of children: BJP

The government is planning on observing good governance day on December 25

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday said that observing 'good governance day' across the nation on December 25 on the occasion of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's birth anniversary will help in building the character of children.

BJP spokesperson G V L Narasimha Rao said that it would also help in informing the citizens about the contributions made by stalwarts like Vajpayee and others.

"I think that Shri Vajpayee has been a very very popular Prime Minister of this country...... He is known to be somebody who has given good governance during his term as Prime Minister of the country," Narasimha Rao told ANI here.

"I think it will only have a positive impact on children in whom you want to build a good character. Character building is an important part of the school life these days and I think somebody like Shri Vajpayee would act as a very good role model in that," he added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier on December 2 declared that 'good governance day' will be observed on Vajpayee's birthday.
