Indian taxi app service Ola has acquired smaller rival TaxiForSure for 200 million dollars, giving a tougher competition to Uber.

According to TechCrunch, the deal is expected to significantly increase Ola's position as the widest-reaching taxi app service in India.

Both services, however, will operate under their own brands.

At present, Ola offers 1,00,000 vehicles across 67 countries in the country which will now increase by 15,000 vehicles across 47 cities coming from TaxiForSure.

Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal said in a statement that TaxiForSure's strategy offers a lot of "complementary strategy".
