Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday confirmed that he had met state Governor N N Vohra, and requested the latter to relieve him of his duties as caretaker administrator.

Omar, via series of tweets, shared the minutes of the meeting with Governor Vohra.

"Just to confirm I did meet Gov Vohra sahib last night and ask him to relieve me as caretaker CM. I had agreed to stay temporarily 1/n"

"I had assumed govt formation would be a matter of a week or 10. Today, we seem even further away from that goal than we were 10 days ago 2/n"

"Given the situation on the border with 10,000 displaced, the hardships of winter and the continuing need for relief for flood affected 3/n"

"I believe the interests of the state will only be served by a full time administrator and not a caretaker with no mandate to govern. 4/n"

The former CM also accused the People's Democratic Party of dallying over the state government formation.

"It is now for the @jkpdp to explain to the people that with 28 MLAs and offers of support from 2 other parties why the state has central rule," he posted.

Last month, a fractured verdict in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections left no party with a clear majority. The highest number of seats was won by the PDP, but the party, with 28 seats, fell well short of the 44 seats required to form the state government.
