One reportedly dead, 14 injured in blast on train at Chennai Railway Station

One person was reportedly killed and fourteen others were reported injured by an explosion in one of the coaches of the Bangalore-Guwahati Express that was stationed off platform number nine at the Chennai Central Railway Station here on Thursday.

Television reports said police teams have arrived at the spot to conduct an investigation as to what caused the blast on the train that was about to leave the station.

The railway station platform, according to the television reports, has been cordoned off. Train services have also been suspended for the time being.

An official statement is likely to be made shortly. Further details are awaited.
