The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday said the political parties pretending to be economists must understand that the people of this country are with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a crucial time when demonetisation is a fight against corruption and for honesty of the people of the nation.

"It takes a lot of guts to do what our Prime Minister has done. The easiest thing to do is to criticise. For those political leaders who are pretending to be economists must understand that the people of this country are with the Prime Minister in a crucial time when this is a fight against corruption and for honesty of the majority," BJP leader Shaina NC told ANI.

The pandemonium in the house between the treasury bench members and the Congress members over the issue of demonetization led to the speaker adjourning the Rajya Sabha till Monday.

The Rajya Sabha was adjourned thrice on Friday following a continuous uproar in the house.

The Lok Sabha has also been adjourned till Monday.

The government is also insisting that the Congress Party apologise for the controversial remarks made by its leader Ghulam Nabi Azad in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday during a demonetisation debate on the government's move to withdraw Rs. 500 and Rs. 1,000 currency notes.
