Substitute Divock Origi grabbed a late winner for Belgium to defeat Russia 1-0 to guide boss Marc Wilmots side into the last 16 in the World Cup.

Origi, who plays as a striker, converted winger Eden Hazard's cross into a goal as he netted the ball past the Russian goalkeeper in the 88th minute to win the match.

According to the BBC, Belgium has advanced to the knockout stage of the World Cup and if Russia wants to follow them into the last 16 then they have to defeat Algeria in their final group match.

Belgium manager Wilmots said that Origi is in a good space right now, adding that the forward is 19 years old and was a bit of a surprise since he was an unknown before he selected the striker, but now everyone knows who he is.

Wilmots also said that it was a hard game because the Russians were expecting them, the players were tired, it was hot, and Belgium's opponents were already cramping up after 60 minutes, adding that it was not an easy match but his squad deserved to win it.

Meanwhile, Russia manager Fabio Capello said that he is very happy with the performance of the team and thought the result was unfair, adding that the truth of the matter is they had chances to win it but lost.
