Sri Lanka has taken a decisive 106 run lead over England in the second Test being played at Headingley, despite losing the key wickets of Kumar Sangakkara (55) and Lahiru Thirimanne (0) in the space of three deliveries towards the close of play on the third day of the match on Sunday.

Sri Lanka closed on 214-4 in theri second innings, with former skipper Mahela Jayawardene unbeaten on 55 in the company of captain Angelo Mathews.

Earlier were bowled out for 365, a first-innings advantage of 108. Sri Lanka wiped out the deficit for the loss of two wickets, and according to the BBC, looked to be gaining the upper hand on a pitch still producing enough uncertainty to suggest a fourth-innings chase in excess of 200 will be far from straightforward.

But off spinner Moeen Ali's two wickets towards the closing hours of the day's play appeared to bring England back into the game.
