Orson Welles' 'unfinished' film may hit theatres on his 100th anniversary

Orson Welles' final unfinished film that was shot between 1969 and 1976 may hit the theatres in May, 2015, for the 100th birth anniversary of the filmmaker.

The unfinished film 'The Other Side of the Wind,' which has been tied up in legal battles between Welles' daughter Beatrice and a number of other parties after his death in 1985, stars John Huston, Susan Strasberg, Dennis Hopper and Peter Bogdanovich, the Independent reported.

Josh Karp, the author of a new book about the film, said that this is like finding the Land of Oz or some lost tomb because this film is art imitating life and life imitating art.

Karp added that the movie, on which Welles worked obsessively for the last 15 years of his life, has become so mythical because of what happened with all the failures to finish it and the players involved.

A Los Angeles-based company Royal Road Entertainment has secured the rights and plans to bring it to the American Film Market event in November to secure a distribution deal.

The finished film will be assembled from unfinished scenes and notes left by Welles as the reels were discovered in excellent condition.
