Criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his failure to check inflation, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said his party's fight against inflation would continue.

"I came to see the Congress worker who got injured. The main issue is inflation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that inflation would be decreased, but it is rising. The Congress Party will fight this battle," Gandhi told the media here.

Gandhi had come to meet party worker Meena Devi, who had suffered burn injuries while setting ablaze an effigy of Prime Minister Modi on June 8.

Devi sustained burn injuries when she came in close contact with the burning effigy and her garment caught fire. She was rushed to a nearby hospital.

Another worker, Narendra Balmiki, who was trying to help the woman in extinguish fire, also sustained slight burn injuries and was given treatment.

The party workers were protesting against the Bharatiya Janata Party government's promises regarding black money, corruption and inflation in the country.
