Controversial Australian chairman of selectors John Inverarity will reportedly be replaced by wicketkeeping legend and national selector Rod Marsh if Cricket Australia (CA) endorses a major revamp of the four-man selection panel.

The change of chairman will be a significant transition of style, with the gruff and straightforward Marsh taking over as the panel's spokesman from urbane former college principal Inverarity, who could however, remain as a selector on a part-time basis.

According to News.com.au, the only two members of the current panel to have their positions as selectors already confirmed by the board are Marsh and coach Darren Lehmann, leaving uncertainty over the futures of Inverarity and Andy Bichel, who is expected to stand down.

The report mentioned that former batsman Mark Waugh will be the significant addition as a selector if a proposal from CA team performance manager Pat Howard is approved by the CA board as part of a two-day meeting in Melbourne, adding that former chairman of selectors Trevor Hohns is also on Howard's short list.

If Inverarity remains on the panel then Waugh will be the only addition in place of Bichel, however, if Inverarity steps down completely then Hohns may also return, the report added.
