Oz media hails team for passing Indian sub-continent 'endurance test' with 'flying colours'

The Australia media has hailed the one-day team in India for passing the test of their endurance and strength in the sub-continent with flying colours and giving a boost to their chances of playing in the winter Ashes series.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Australia's current romp through India has been a surprise bonus for their cricketing stocks as the team learnt to win again by playing a brand of cricket in India which has elevated stand-in skipper George Bailey into the frame for a possible Test debut in the upcoming Ashes.

The report further said that these matches have also enabled three of Australia's most talented young cricketers, James Faulkner, Aaron Finch and Glenn Maxwell, to reinforce their credentials as international stars of the future, adding that they have benefited enormously from their Indian Premier League (IPL) experiences.

The report also said that the trio, along with David Warner and Nathan Coulter-Nile, will form the backbone of Australian limited-overs cricket for many years to come as they all have the modern-day tricks required for their roles, although they face a challenge of successfully transferring their skills into Test cricket in the coming years.

Stating that Faulkner, Finch and Maxwell have the potential to be good modern-day Test cricketers, the report also said that Australia now has three players who should be an integral part of the country's World Cup campaign in 2015 and for many years beyond.
