All-rounders Fawad Alam and Shoaib Maqsood kept Pakistan going steady after a fall of five wickets to steer their side to victory against Sri Lanka by four wickets and one ball remaining in the first ODI.
Sri Lankan all-rounder Ashan Priyanjan caught Alam for his individual score of 62 off pace express Lasith Malinga's delivery, before Maqsood, helped by all-rounder Shahid Afridi, chased down the target 275 and won the match by one ball to spare with four wickets still remaining.
Maqsood hit 89 not out while Afridi remained unbeaten on 14.
Earlier Sri Lanka had posted a total of 275 for the tourists after Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat. Sri Lankan captain Angelo Mathews had scored 89, while former skipper Mahela Jayawardene posted 63 to help their side post a healthy target in their 45 overs.
Pakistan currently lead the three-match ODI series by 1-0 to Sri Lanka.
