Pakistan bowling coach Mohammad Akram has said that the team will soon implement a rotation policy for their pacemen to prolong their careers following the numerous injuries to key bowlers.

Pakistan has suffered a spate of injuries to their bowlers including top fast bowlers Umar Gul and Mohammad Irfan, who has also been ruled out of the forthcoming Asia Cup and World T20 tournaments in Bangladesh.

According to Sport24, Akram said that he has discussed with Mohammad Hafeez and Misbah-ul Haq, captains of the Twenty20 and the ODI and Test teams respectively, and the other coaches on the possible implementation of a rotation policy for the fast bowlers.

The former Test bowler also said that although every captain wants to field his strongest bowling line up in every match, it is also necessary for bowlers to be nursed and handled with care given the large amount of matches being played nowadays.

Akram also said that the loss of Irfan had been a big setback as had been Gul's ouster from cricket for nearly eight months due to a knee surgery, adding that they are confident about having a rotation policy because they now have good back-up talent coming up and their spinners are world class.
