The Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB's) newly appointed chief selector and Director Game Development Aamir Sohail has said that his top priority will be to prepare a strong pool of reserve players, and in this regard, has called upon the nation's cricketing talent to come forward and show their worth.
Emphatically stating that Pakistan has a lot of cricketing talent, Sohail was quoted by the Dawn newspaper, as saying that there is a need to channel this raw talent properly.
He said that his focus would be on youngsters, working on their technique, and on areas where they lack.
He described his role as chief selector and Director Game Development as inter-related.
Referring to his past experience as both chief selector and director NCA, Sohail claimed that players groomed then, were now a part of the current Pakistan squad.
He said there is a lot of work that still needs to be done at the grassroots level to ensure that they build up a solid reserve pool, and added that his immediate task will be to select limited-overs teams for the Asia Cup in Bangladesh and the World Twenty20 in Bangladesh next month.
