A Pakistan's Punjab Government Mi-17 helicopter crash landed on Thursday in Afghanistan's Logar province, where Taliban militants took the crew hostage before setting the helicopter on fire.
However, some reports say the helicopter caught fire as it crashed.
The chopper had seven people on board at the time of the incident and all of them survived and had been taken hostage, reports the Dawn.
The crew included six members of the Punjab government and a Russian engineer.
Afghanistan's TOLO News, however, reported the helicopter belonged to Pakistan military and it is not clear what the Pakistani helicopter was doing in Afghan air space over Logar province which is close to Kabul.
According to Saleem Saleeh, spokesman for Logar province's governor, the helicopter crashed in the Mati area of Azra district.
Pakistan Foreign Office is trying to contact Afghan officials to get more information on the incident.
The Taliban militant group has so far not commented on the incident.
