Pakistan's Director-General (DG) Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lieutenant General Rizwan Akhtar has held meetings with top US intelligence officials ahead of Nawaz Sharif's visit to Washington.
According to The Dawn, the meeting has been held to discuss strategic issues and counter-terrorism.
The DG ISI will present a report to Sharif upon his return on Sunday evening and brief the Prime Minister regarding details of his discussions with US officials.
Sharif will depart for Washington after the meeting with the DG ISI.
Sharif has delayed his visit by a day. He will leave for London en route Washington on Sunday, according to sources.
Pakistan's Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhary left for the US early on Sunday ahead of Sharif to hold preparatory meetings with senior US officials.
