Pakistan's Supreme Court on Thursday adjourned the hearing of blasphemy convict Aasia Bibi's appeal against her execution for an indefinite period.

The lawyers for Aasia Bibi, a Christian mother of five who has been on death row since 2010, will seek to have her death sentence overturned even as observers warn of "tremendous" repercussions for minorities in Pakistan, reports the Express Tribune.

The apex court had earlier in July 2015 stayed the execution of the blasphemy convict, admitting her petition for full hearing.

A three-member bench at the Supreme Court had then asked for all records pertaining to the case to be presented before it.

In her petition, the death row prisoner claimed that she had not made any blasphemous remarks and the allegations levelled against her by her neighbours were based on a personal feud.

She urged the court to strike down her death sentence.

The Lahore High Court had upheld her death sentence in 2014.

She has been on death row since November 2010 after being convicted of making derogatory comments about Prophet Muhammad during an argument with a Muslim woman over a bowl of water.
