The Supreme Court of Pakistan has ruled out any chances of it reviewing its October 7, 2015 judgment to sentence Malik Mohammad Mumtaz Qadri, the killer of former Punjab governor Salman Taseer for allegedly committing blasphemy, to death.

Expressing its dismay and regret over repeated demands by Qadri's defence team for a review of its final verdict, the apex court, a five-page detailed explanation of why it had rejected the petition for review of its judgment, said, "All contentions have already been attended to in the October 7 judgment under review in some detail."

"No error patent on the face of the record was pointed out by Qadri's counsel against the October 7 judgment," the Dawn quoted Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, who headed the apex court bench which had dismissed the review petition, as saying.

Mumtaz Qadri, who is currently lodged in Rawalpindi's Adiyala Jail, was convicted of killing Salman Taseer at a market in Islamabad on January 4, 2011.
