Pakistan's Supreme Court has turned down a plea by former president Pervez Musharraf to fix an early date for the hearing of the government's appeal against the Sindh High Court's (SHC) June 12 verdict to remove his name from Exit Control List (ECL).
General (Retired) Musharraf had requested the apex court to conduct the hearing immediately after the Eid vacations end.
But according to an Express Tribune report, a five judge larger bench of the apex court said that it would only take up the matter for a hearing in September.
The Supreme Court is hearing the federal government's appeal against the Sindh High Court's (SHC) June 12 verdict regarding removal of Musharraf's name from Exit Control List (ECL).
An apex court bench had suspended the Sindh High Court's judgment regarding removal of Musharraf's name from Exit Control List (ECL) and adjourned the hearing for four weeks on June 23.
Musharraf had filed an application through his advocate on record (AoR) Chaudhry Ahmad Nawaz, requesting the apex court to fix the government's appeal immediately after Eid vacations so that the matter pertaining to the validity of Musharraf's name being on the ECL could be decided one way or the other at an earliest.
He had made the request on grounds that he wanted to be by the side of his very ill mother, as also to have medical treatment for himself abroad.
