Pakistan's Chief of Armed Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has claimed that the country's armed forces have been successful in defeating terrorists and are now in the consolidation phase.
Addressing participants taking part in a joint military exercise between Pakistan and Jordan, General Bajwa was quoted by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), as saying that the nature of taking part in a war or wars has changed, with direct conflict being a less considered option.
"Pakistan's armed forces are fully trained and ready for response to [the] full spectrum [of] threats, [and] our achievements in counter terrorism operations are being taken as successful case studies," the Dawn quoted him, as saying.
The COAS also said that conducting joint exercises helps improve the army's professional expertise in conducting counterterrorism operations and adding that such engagements are a source of mutual sharing, learning and benefit.
He was speaking after inspecting a Pakistan-Jordan joint military exercise, "Fajr-ul-Sharq 1", near Attock, according to the ISPR statement.
