Prominent Pakistan human rights activist Asma Jahangir has called on the government to order a probe into an alleged plot to assassinate her in India in 2012.

Jahangir, who is a lawyer by profession, demanded that Islamabad find the forces who wanted to silence her struggle for democracy and the protection of human rights, the BBC reports.

Earlier in May 2012, the Washington Post reported that some elements in the Pakistan armed force were plotting to assassinate Jahangir.

The report was based on the revelations of NSA leaker Edward Snowden and a top secret report from the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA).

Jahangir revealed in a press conference last June that some elements of Pakistan security establishment conspired to murder her.

Jahangir recently claimed that she already revealed details about the plot.

Jahangir has been a critic of Pakistan's security establishment and its spy agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence agency (ISI).
