After her social media video with a pet orangutan drew concerns, Paris Hilton has asked for apology from animal advocates.

The video that created the hype was posted to Instagram in 2014 and it features the 35-year-old business woman cuddling a one-year-old orangutan from Dubai, named Dior, reports People magazine.

She captioned the clip, "This is baby Dior. She's a lil princess."

The U.N.'s Great Apes Survival Partnership (GRASP) came out against the Hilton's post, saying that images, like Hilton's, hurt conservation efforts to protect the endangered species and promote captive abuse.

GRASP wrote, "Great apes are neither playthings nor pets and Ms. Hilton's lack of perspective is appalling."

Replying to the controversy, Hilton said that she agrees with what they are saying and added that she is an animal lover.

The 'House of Wax' star added that she has friends, who actually rescue animals from these places and they can't be put back in the wild. So, these are animals that have actually been rescued. She just did it because she loves animals.
