Australian opener Chris Rogers has reportedly been hit with a fine after he arrived late to Australia's public Ashes celebration earlier this week due to heavy partying.

The veteran batsman, who missed the majority of the official Ashes celebrations in the Sydney Opera House forecourt on Tuesday, finally arrived wearing in dark aviator sunglasses and maintaining a sheepish air.

According to News.com.au, Rogers, who was fined by the team management for his tardiness, admitted that he had probably been 'enjoying the win a bit too much' and apologised for being late, and quipped that he might have sent to the dance floor late in the celebrations as a punishment for his late entry.

Rogers said that he had another celebration on his radar - his brother's 40th birthday in Perth - before he would turn his attention to facing South Africa's classy pace attack of Dale Steyn, Vernon Philander and Morne Morkel next month.

Despite his 15-year first-class career, Rogers said he had never played in South Africa before, a fact he attributed to being 'a hopeless T20 player'.
